Implementing The Changes to Mental Health Act

CSIP/NIMHE has been commission by the Department of Health to implement a number of changes to the Mental Health Act 1983 brought about by the Mental Health Act 2007. Specifically, we have been tasked with roles in informing those involved of the coming changes, supporting implementation by service providers, directly and by signposting sources of information.

These wide ranging changes will have significant implications for both the way services are run and how they are experienced by service users and carers. In response, we have created a national implementation programme, with delivery on the ground channeled through CSIP's 8 Regional Development Centres, including CSIP Eastern.

CSIP/NIMHE's Lead in the Eastern region for implementation of the amended Act is Lou Brewster and Administrative support for this programme is provided by Sharon Lansdell - contact details are at the bottom of this page.

National Website

The national website for the implementation programme is here. This contains the latest news, information about the work CSIP is undertaking nationally - including Advocacy, Supervised Community Treatment, Workforce, Training and Administration. In addition, there are links to key documents and other online resources.

The latest implementation programme bulletin for the Mental Health Act 2007, Update 11, has just been uploaded to the site. This has been timed to coincide with the launch of the SCT modelling
application.
